In order

Enabling cookies on
Internet Explorer/AOL: (Note: AOL software uses the Microsoft
Internet Explorer as its default browser)
- Click on Start from your Windows taskbar.
- Select Settings.
- Click on Control Panel.
- Click on the Internet icon. The Internet Properties window should
appear.
- Click on the Advanced tab.
- Scroll down until you see the Cookies icon. Choose either "prompt before accepting cookies" or "always accept
cookies."
- Once you have selected a Cookie preference, click on the Apply
button.
- Click on the button labeled OK.
IE6.0
- Click on Start from your Windows taskbar.
- Select Settings.
- Click on Control Panel.
- Click on the Internet icon. The Internet Properties window should
appear.
- Click on the Privacy tab.
- Adjust the slider to a level that accepts cookies.
Note: Internet Explorer 3.02 does not allow you to disable cookies,
only to be warned before accepting them. To be warned before accepting
cookies while using MSIE v3.02:
- Click on Start.
- Select Settings.
- Click on Control Panels.
- Click on the Internet icon. The Internet Properties window should
appear.
- Click on the Advanced tab from within the Internet properties
window.
- Click with your mouse to select the box left of Warn before
accepting cookies.
- You will now have the option to decline each cookie offered by Web
sites that you visit.
AOL for Macs:
- Go to My AOL, then click on Preferences.
- Click on WWW.
- Go to Advanced Settings. In the left pane, click on Receiving Files,
then in the right pane, click on "Cookies," and choose Never Ask or Ask.
Netscape 4.x for Mac:
- Go to Edit, then click on Preferences.
- Click on Advanced in the left pane.
- Click on Accept all cookies in the right pane.
- Click okay to save.
Internet Explorer 4.5 for Mac:
- Go to Edit, then click on Preferences.
- In the left pane, click on Receiving Files, then click on Cookies.
- In the right pane, use the pull down "When receiving cookies" and
choose "never ask," "ask for each site," or "ask for each cookie."
- Click on OK to save.
Internet Explorer 6.0 for PCs: From inside the IE window:
- Go to Tools, then click on Internet Options.
- Click on the Privacy tab.
- Adjust the slider to a level that accepts cookies.
Internet Explorer 5.5 for PCs: From inside the IE window:
- Go to Tools, then click on Internet Options.
- Click on the Security tab.
- Click on the button Custom Level.
- Scroll to Cookies.
- Under "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer," you can
choose either Enable or Prompt or Disable. This type of cookie is not
required to use techies.com.
- Under "Allow per session cookies (not stored)," choose "Allow per
session cookies." This is required to be able to log into techies.com.
Netscape 4.x for PCs: From inside the Netscape window:
- Go to Edit, then click on Preferences.
- On the left pane, click on Advanced, then on the right, choose
accept all cookies or accept only cookies that get sent back to the
originating server.
- Click on OK to save.
Netscape 3.x for PCs: (Note: Navigator 3.0x and 2.0x don't
have an option to disable the setting of cookies globally. It is a feature
added to version 4.x.)
- Go to the options menu and choose network preferences, Protocols.
- Check the option to "show alert before accepting cookies."
